Understanding Your EICR Codes
If your report identifies issues, they will be categorised using standard industry codes. Here is what they mean for your business:
- C1 – Danger Present: The most serious code. It means there is a risk of injury and immediate remedial action is required. We will often fix these on-site or make them safe before leaving.
- C2 – Potentially Dangerous: This indicates a fault that could become dangerous. While not an immediate threat, these require urgent attention to ensure your Commercial EICR remains valid for insurance.
- C3 – Improvement Recommended: This is the most common code. It means your installation is safe, but it doesn't meet the latest BS 7671 standards. It’s a suggestion for future upgrades rather than a legal requirement.
- FI – Further Investigation: This means our engineers found something that needs a closer look. It usually applies to hidden circuits or areas where access was restricted during the initial survey.
